Course Overview:
This is an academic English course for international and EU students preparing for university study in the UK and other English-speaking countries.
The course will help you to:

develop reading, writing, speaking and listening skills to the levels required for entry to an undergraduate or postgraduate course (at least CEFRL B2)

develop language skills and confidence for successful academic study

get to know the UK higher education environment and its expectations

meet and participate in interactive classes with international students from a range of subject specialisms

develop independent learning skills
Course info:
The course is structured around academic project work to develop your language skills. It will include:

skills and language development through academic project work, including reading and responding to academic articles, completing a group research project, or researching and writing a discursive essay

supported academic writing tasks, including reports, essays, summaries and reflective writing
-
supported academic speaking tasks, including contributing to seminar discussions and presentations
-
lectures on a variety of subjects including British culture, allowing you to practise academic listening, note-taking and vocabulary development

understanding and developing critical thinking and reflective practices
-
a self-study programme, including academic project work, tailored e-learning support and access to our library of language-learning resources
-
preparation for future studies through access to library resources for your subject and with some assignments linked to your subject specialism

group work, pair work and reflection on how you work with others

one-to-one tutorials for individual support and feedback on your work
